Configuring Licensing in a Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment

In my previous blog post which you can find here I covered Group Policy setup in a Citrix environment as this is method used to point the XenApp application servers at 11V-XA65Lic-01. In a separate post I also covered the install of my XenApp license server and my Windows Remote Desktop license server on the machine 11V-XA65Lic-01 which can be found here.

Once you have installed and configured both your license server and your Group Policy Objects (GPOs) the next step is to configure the XenApp application servers to utilise 11V-XA65Lic-01 as their license server. Licensing in this case referrers to both Windows Remote Desktop Licensing and Citrix Licensing. Continue reading

Group Policy Setup in a Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment

In my previous blog post which you can find here I covered the install of both my XenApp license server and my Windows Remote Desktop license server on the machine 11V-XA65Lic-01. I started to write a post on configuring the XenApp application servers (11V-XA65-01, 11V-XA65-02) to use 11V-XA65Lic-01 as both their Windows Remote Desktop license server and their Citrix License server. I realised it would be better to complete a post on Group Policy setup in the environment first as this will be the method used to point the XenApp application servers at 11V-XA65Lic-01. So here it is! Continue reading

Install of Citrix XenApp 6.5 License Server and Windows Server Remote Desktop Licensing

In my previous blog post I covered the Installation and initial configuration of XenApp 6.5 on my designated XenApp application servers. (11V-XA65-01, 11V-XA65-02) It can be found here.

The next step in the process is to get the license server up and running. For this scenario I will be using the Windows Server 2008 R2 machine name 11V-XA65Lic-01 as both my XenApp license server and my Windows Remote Desktop license server. Continue reading

Install and Configuration of Citrix XenApp 6.5 Application Servers

In my previous blog post I covered the basics of what XenApp actually was, setting up a My Citrix Account, getting access to the install sources and getting access to your XenApp licenses. You can find the first post here.

So now that you have got your hands on the installers and licenses for Citrix XenApp the next step is to get started on the install. There are plenty of how to docs on installing and configuring servers as well as setting up a Windows domain. Unless it is relevant to the task at hand I am not going to cover any Windows specific configuration in detail. If you have any questions or require clarification feel free to leave a comment. My Inaugural post on Citrix XenApp 6.5

Welcome to my first post on Citrix XenApp, hopefully my first of many. My plan for this series of blog posts is to carry out a step by step walk through from creating a My Citrix Account, downloading your XenApp install sources, browsing the Citrix knowledgebase and finally installing and configuring XenApp 6.5 in a test Server 2008 R2 environment. I will also be adding articles related to technical issues I have come across and potential trouble shooting steps that can be taken but we must crawl before we can walk. Continue reading
