Welcome to my first post on Citrix XenApp, hopefully my first of many. My plan for this series of blog posts is to carry out a step by step walk through from creating a My Citrix Account, downloading your XenApp install sources, browsing the Citrix knowledgebase and finally installing and configuring XenApp 6.5 in a test Server 2008 R2 environment. I will also be adding articles related to technical issues I have come across and potential trouble shooting steps that can be taken but we must crawl before we can walk. Continue reading
Backstory: In the medium term my company planned to build a Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V farm from which to offer cloud services to our customers. In the meantime we were using a 3rd party provider for our hypervisor infrastructure. Due to various incidents it was then decided to fast forward the build our won Hyper-V farm using Windows Server 2008 R2 on our own kit. Now that Server 2012 has appeared we are looking toward easily upgrading our hypervisor hosts and farm to Hyper-V 2012.
I was given the task to test how easy it would be to move the virtual servers from a 2008 Hyper-V Failover cluster to a 2012 Hyper-V failover cluster. Continue reading
